The Center for Conflict Research, in partnership with the Student Diplomatic Club and Polity, is delighted to invite you to a panel discussion Globalization and Deglobalization: Rhetoric and Reality, scheduled for May 26, 2025 (Monday) at 5:30 PM at the New Conference Hall at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.
Our distinguished guest speakers for the event will be:
- Radan Kanev, Member of the European Parliament, lawyer, and active voice on issues such as energy security, sustainable development, and the EU’s role in the international economy;
- Georgi Vuldzhev, economist from EKIP and EmergingMarketWatch, recognized for his analytical perspectives and proposals for reforms in Bulgaria’s economic and social policy.
The moderator of the event will be Simeon Ivanov from the Bulgarian National Television (BNT).
The event aims to examine how globalization — previously viewed as an undeniable path toward economic growth and international cooperation — has led to a range of social and political tensions. We will discuss whether Donald Trump’s trade policies represent a cataclysm or a timely correction. We’ll look into the Eurozone — is it a successful model of globalization or a system with growing contradictions? The conversation will further cover China, the Global South, and new economic alliances, as well as how Europe can adapt to a changing world.
